New Delhi: A Delhi Special Court after hearing a CBI plea refused to cancel the bail granted to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the IRCTC scam case.
CBI counsel submitted to the court that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav held a press conference and allegedly threatened some CBI officers. He submitted that it was an attempt by Tejashwi Yadav to influence the case.
"Will they always be CBI officers? Will they not retire?" the CBI counsel quoted Tejashwi Yadav as saying. He then requested for cancellation of his bail.
Counsel for Yadav opposed the CBI plea submitting that there is a difference between threatening and criticising.
Special CBI Judge of MP/MLA's case Geetanjali Goel warned Tejashwito Yadav to choose the right words while speaking in public. But the court disallowed the plea to cancel the bail.
The CBI lodged a case against 12 persons over alleged irregularities in the allotment of maintenance contracts of two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006. Tejashwi Yadav and his mother Rabri Devi were granted bail in 2018.
