Delhi: 1,410 new Covid-19 cases, positivity rate declines further to 2.45%

NEW DELHI: The daily Covid case count has continued to decline in Delhi with the number of infections going below the 1,500 mark on Sunday. The city registered 1,410 new infections and 14 deaths while the positivity rate was 2.45%. The latest deaths took the total tally to 25,983.

On Saturday, Delhi reported 1,604 cases at a positivity rate of 2.87%.

With the number of cases declining at a rapid pace, hospital occupancy has also dipped. Of the total admissions, 401 patients are in ICUs and 95 are on ventilator support.

Some hospitals say that many comorbid patients admitted at facilities in critical condition, are catching the virus during the course of treatment. The hospitals also claim that these patients have a longer treatment time.

However, taking note of the number of cases going down in the city, routine and elective surgeries at Lok Nayak Jaiprakash (LNJP) and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospitals have been resumed, following the Delhi government order, dated February 3.

As of now, there remain 8,869 active Covid-19 cases, of which 6,401 are currently in home isolation. The total number of containment zones has come down to 30,546.
