Dele Alli season over as he returns to Everton from Besiktas loan

Dele Alli is thought to have played his last game for Besiktas.

The midfielder was given permission to fly back to the UK after picking up an injury with the Super Lig club. Sean Dyche confirmed he was aware of the 26-year-old’s return to Everton after being asked about him following the defeat to Manchester United.

An initial assessment is understood to have led medics to believe he will be unavailable for the rest of the season with a muscle injury.

Dele has endured a difficult loan spell in Turkey. He has made 13 appearances and scored twice since his move in August, but last played for Besiktas in February and comments from manager Senol Gunes have only added weight to claims of a breakdown in their relationship.

Dyche was asked about reports of Dele’s return to the UK after Everton’s 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. He said: “He is just getting some treatment - he is injured currently”. The Blues boss re-iterated he was under contract with Besiktas.

Dele has been given an initial recovery estimate of eight to 10 weeks. If that holds true he will have played his final match with Besiktas. The former England player has a further year left on his deal with Everton after signing a two and a half year contract in the final hours of the January 2022 transfer window.
