Deion Sanders Says Travis Hunter Has ‘Tremendous Chance’ to Play vs. Stanford

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders offered good news about two-way standout Travis Hunter on Tuesday, revealing to reporters that the cornerback/wide receiver is likely to play in the Buffaloes’ game against Stanford on Friday.

Hunter, who has missed Colorado’s past three games, returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering a lacerated liver in the Buffaloes’ matchup against Colorado State on Sept. 16.

Initially, Sanders stated that he would prefer for Hunter to remain out until after the team’s bye, which occurs next week. Now, it appears Hunter could take the field against the Cardinal.

“There is a tremendous chance that he could play,” Sanders said. “It goes by how he looks, how he performs in practice, how his wind is. He has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability, I want him to always be a tremendous asset. … I hope he can play.”

Colorado (4-2, 1-2 Pac-12) enters Friday matchup against Stanford (1-4, 0-3) coming off a win 27-24 victory against Arizona State. In three games this season, Hunter has recorded nine tackles, two pass deflections and one interception on defense while notching 16 receptions for 213 yards on offense.
