The College Football Playoff committee caused an uproar Sunday when they chose Alabama over unbeaten Florida State as one of the four teams set to compete for the national championship. The Seminoles were furious over the snub, which marks the first time an unbeaten Power 5 team that won its conference championship failed to make the Playoff.
But not everyone was furious. Colorado head coach and Florida State alum Deion Sanders didn’t seem too upset over the committee’s decision when asked about it during an appearance on the The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz on Monday. Sanders took a big-picture view on the decision, saying it was in the interest of “entertainment.”
“This is entertainment, but this is business, so there’s no way you’re going to leave Coach Saban and Alabama out of a playoff,” Sanders said.

It’s an opinion that no Florida State fan wants to hear, especially coming from a legendary member of the Seminoles family. But Sanders has a point.
The Seminoles, who didn’t lose a single game and won their conference title, checked off most of the boxes required for selection. But Florida State, which lost star quarterback Jordan Travis for the year due to a leg injury, isn’t as good as the Crimson Tide for the Playoff from a “business” standpoint, Sanders contends.
