Residents of Dehradun can expect a wet day on June 11 as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across the city and several other districts of Uttarakhand. The weather department has also warned of lightning and gusty winds in parts of the state as a Western Disturbance continues to influence weather conditions across Northwest India.
Dehradun weather forecast for June 11
According to the IMD, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts on June 11.
The weather department has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph at isolated locations across Uttarakhand. Higher-altitude regions above 4,400 metres may witness snowfall along with rain and thunderstorm activity.
Heavy rain lashed Dehradun on Wednesday
The forecast comes a day after heavy rain swept through Dehradun on Wednesday, bringing relief from the prevailing heat. Several parts of the city witnessed a sudden change in weather as dark clouds gathered and showers cooled temperatures.
The Garhi Cantt area received particularly heavy rainfall as weather conditions turned pleasant across the Uttarakhand capital.

Western Disturbance to keep Northwest India wet
According to the IMD, a Western Disturbance is responsible for the ongoing wet spell across Northwest India. The department has forecast widespread rain activity until June 13, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds reaching 50-60 kmph in some areas.
Rain likely in several North Indian states
The weather department has also forecast an expansion of rainfall activity across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan between June 10 and June 14. The showers are expected to provide relief from the intense summer heat that affected large parts of the region in recent weeks.
With more rain on the cards, Dehradun is likely to enjoy cooler temperatures and pleasant weather conditions over the coming days, although residents are advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.
