A Coinbase wallet, a bank account worth more than $1 million and millions of dollars in retirement investments all appear in defense secretary Pete Hegseth’s latest financial disclosure.
The U.S. defense secretary’s 2025 filing also shows Bitcoin holdings, individual stock sales and 16 exchange-traded fund purchases made during the year. CNBC reported that the disclosure lists at least $3.1 million across cash, retirement investments and Bitcoin.
How much Bitcoin does Pete Hegseth own
Hegseth’s Bitcoin appears in two separate entries under “other assets and income,” with both holdings linked to the same Coinbase wallet, according to Decrypt.
One entry is valued at $15,001 to $50,000, while the other is listed at $1,001 to $15,000. Based on the reported ranges, the two holdings are worth approximately $16,000 to $65,000 combined.
Both entries identify capital gains as the income type.
There is no Bitcoin transaction listed in the filing’s transaction section. Decrypt reported that this section covers purchases and sales above $1,000. So, the filing does not show a Bitcoin purchase or sale above $1,000 during the reporting period.
Hegseth reported more than $1 million in one bank account
The filing lists three U.S. bank accounts, with one reported at more than $1 million, CNBC reported.
An account under the same description was listed at $15,001 to $50,000 in Hegseth’s December 2024 nominee disclosure.
The latest filing does not provide an upper limit for the account, however. That means the two disclosures cannot be used to calculate the exact change in its value.
