Defending women's champion Iga Swiatek suffered a stunning exit from the US Open on Sunday, as she was defeated in three sets by Latvia's 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko.
After losing the first set, Ostapenko mounted a comeback and secured a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory in a match that lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes. She is now set to face American sixth seed Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
