KOLKATA: It's the end of an era for the Indian women's hockey team as 29-year-old Deep Grace Ekka called it quits from international hockey on Saturday in a social media post.
Hailing from Lulkidihi village in Sundargarh district of Odisha, where people criticised her for playing hockey, Deep Grace made history with the women's team when they made it to the semifinals of Tokyo Olympics and finished fourth. Although a podium finish at the biggest sporting stage eluded her, she won innumerable medals over a career that spanned over more than a decade.
