After playing only three snaps against the Kansas City Chiefs. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was ruled out for the remainder of the contest due to an illness.
Following the game, Samuel was hospitalized with a pneumonia-like illness. Samuel was recently released from the hospital but is not slated to practice on Wednesday.
Despite not practicing, Samuel’s status is undecided for Sunday’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys in primetime. When talking to reporters on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed there’s a chance Samuel plays on Sunday Night Football. Shanahan said the 49ers will “see how the rest of the week goes.”

Deebo Samuel (pneumonia) will not practice today, but Kyle Shanahan said there's a chance he plays on Sunday. "We'll see how it goes the rest of the week."
No Jauan Jennings (hip) today, either.

With Jauan Jennings and Samuel are both dealing with injuries and illnesses and with Brandon Aiyuk recently added to the injured reserve due to a knee injury, the 49ers are thin at wide receiver.
Rookies Jacob Cowing and Ricky Pearsall could see an increased role against the Cowboys on Sunday, along with Ronnie Bell and veteran Chris Conley.
