A police investigation has been launched after the bodies of two “decomposing” women, thought to be sisters, were found in a Sydney flat.
New South Wales detectives went to the apartment block on Canterbury Road, Canterbury on Tuesday morning after concern was raised over the whereabouts of the two women.
The two deceased people have not yet been identified but they are thought to be aged in their 20s.
Police officers found the two women, who are believed to be sisters, in a “somewhat decomposed” state, a source told The Daily Telegraph.
The two women were pictured being removed in body bags.

A crime scene is in place at the first floor flat with police, homicide detectives and a forensic team spending most of Tuesday at the site.
They could still be seen working into the night appearing to be gathering fingerprints.
It is thought that the manager of the block of flats had got in touch with the police with a welfare report due to a build up of letters by the door to the apartment.
Police have been questioning residents and looking at CCTV images for clues.

Neighbour Alan Ho, 30, reportedly said he was surprised to hear of the two deaths in what is a quiet area. "It's usually a pretty tame area so it's pretty concerning to hear about something like this," he said.
Another resident said she was "scared" by the news and seeing the police searching through the neighbourhood for clues.
"They were everywhere like in the cul-de-sac, in the complex of the car park, everything," she told 7News.
"It's sort of scary to know what's happening in your own neighbourhood."
A NSW Police statement read: "Detectives have commenced an investigation after the bodies of two women were located inside a unit in Sydney’s south west today.
