Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be keen to strengthen his squad this summer in order to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool. Adding quality and depth to his defence will be his priority due to the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen but midfield will also be an area of concern.
N’Golo Kante and Jorginho have been integral parts of the club's recent successes, however, both players are in their 30s and in the last year of their respective deals. The Blues now face a major dilemma as to whether to cash in on the ageing duo or offer them new long-term contracts.
However, regardless of whether they put pen to paper on new deals or are indeed sold, the club are in need of younger central midfielders to take the mantle. A plethora of names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer including West Ham star Declan Rice, who seems to be linked with a return to Stamford Bridge every transfer window.
