St Mirren have launched an ambitious bid to sign Aberdeen defender Declan Gallagher - and the Dons have granted the Paisley side permission to speak to the Scotland international.
Record Sport understands the Buddies have stretched their summer transfer budget to the limit in order to offer the centre-back a two-year deal. Aberdeen could also offer a possible pay-off to ensure Gallagher is not left out of pocket if he decides he wants the move. St Mirren have made it clear that they have pushed the boat out as far as they can but the former Motherwell star had still to commit.
Gallagher previously worked with St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson at Motherwell. He played his best football at Fir Park and that helped him become one of Scotland’s Euro 2020 play-off heroes. He moved to Aberdeen last summer but his early time in the North-east was wrecked by injury and a virus.
