MUMBAI: The decision to remove Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the BCCI's central contracts was made solely by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, according to secretary Jay Shah. Shah also stressed that "nobody is indispensable".
Kishan and Iyer were removed from the list after failing to show up for domestic matches despite a directive from the BCCI. While Kishan returned from the tour of South Africa last year and did not play any cricket until he featured for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Iyer cited back pain and missed a couple of Ranji Trophy matches before turning up for the semifinal and the final.
