Comments made by Deborra-Lee Furness heaping praise on her now estranged husband Hugh Jackman have resurfaced following news of their split.
The Australian actress, 67, spoke warmly of fellow Antipodean Jackman, 54, to Page Six last February, while at the Broadway opening of The Music Man revival in which he was starring.
Revealing that she had helped her husband of almost three decades run his lines, she noted, “Yeah, we do everything together.”
She also said that there was nothing “irritating” about the X-Men star and insisted that his Hollywood nice guy image was a reality rather than a facade.
The pair announced on Friday via People that they were separating.
The joint statement read: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the couple stated.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
They signed off the statement with“Deb and Hugh Jackman,” concluding: “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”
The former couple were married for more than 27 years and have two children: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
