An inquest has been opened into the death of an inmate at a Nottinghamshire prison. Rolandas Karbauskas died at HMP Lowdham Grange on March 25.
Opening an inquest at Nottingham Council House on Wednesday, April 26, assistant coroner Sarah Wood said the 49-year-old was identified by a prison custody officer. The death happened less than two weeks after David Richards, the ex-boss of male striptease group Dreamboys, was found dead in his cell.
A week before that, another man died at the prison, which changed hands from Serco to Sodexo last month. Ms Wood said the cause of death was yet to be ascertained, adding the inquest would resume at a date yet to be fixed.
HMP Lowdham Grange holds nearly 900 male prisoners and has around 500 staff. Sodexo took on a 10-year contract from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) from February 16, making it the French company's sixth prison across England and Scotland.
