Announcing the passing of a loved one in local news media is a long standing tradition and we are proud of the trust placed in us to make these important announcements. Every notice published to our newspaper and news site also appears on funeral-notices.co.uk - the UK’s number one site for death notices and memoriams.
Every notice remains online forever providing friends and families with a lifelong tribute to their loved one, a safe place online to share memories, add tributes, photographs and make donations in memory.
Each week we pay tribute to the loved ones remembered in our area with a funeral notice and online tribute page. To read the latest announcements and add tributes to those from our area who have passed away, click here.

Peter Martin FRYER
Peter was a much loved family man. Always making himself available to help, support and encourage in a non-judgemental way. Loving husband to Vyvian for 63 years of marriage. As daughters, we felt incredibly lucky to have him as 'Our Dad'. He was also a loyal friend, enjoying spending time with many friends. Peter was a committed Christian. A man of great integrity. A lifelong, and active member of St George's Church, Jesmond. He was involved in many ways - as Church Warden, on the PCC, Fete and Expo organiser ... but most of all, he cared about the Church family, wanting it to be caring, welcoming and inclusive to all. He always made time to chat to newcomers. Peter worked hard, and with enthusiasm, for Newcastle Protection and Indemnity Association (Marine Insurance) his entire working life, latterly as General Manager. He enjoyed working alongside his father for much of that time. He cared about his colleagues and fostered a caring atmosphere at work. Peter also volunteered for Abbeyfield Society for over 50 years, for much of the time as Treasurer. Peter lived in Jesmond and Gosforth all his life and loved being involved in the local community. He enjoyed varied styles of music, particularly live music. He was keen to encourage young people to develop their musical talents. He was friendly and chatty to everyone. If he could help anyone, he always would. Peter coped with dementia in latter years - with his typical positivity and fortitude. He continued to enjoy life as much as he could, always keen to go on trips out, listening to music and loving to spend time in his beautiful garden. He continued to be welcoming, kind and appreciative of any help offered right until the end of his life. He had a deep sense of peace. It was always a pleasure to spend time with him. Peter will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. We plan a celebration and Thanksgiving for his life on Saturday 29th October at 2.30pm at St George's Church, Jesmond. Everyone welcome. Please wear something bright.

Dean Thomas (Clarky) CLARK
Clarky It's been a whole year without you Dean, and our lives are no longer the same since you gained your wings. Life has gone on but a massive void is left because you're not here, and that is sometimes unbearable. There are so many tears when we talk about you which we do on a daily basis and there are times when we talk about you and we laugh at the things you said and done, your laugh was second to none. You were simply loved and always will be. When we think of you Dean, we think of that beautiful cheeky smile, the laughs we all had and the memories we hold of you can never be taken away. You are our brightest star in the sky and you will never ever be forgotten. Till we all meet again Dean, we will go on forever loving you. Love you Always, Auntie Mau, Uncle Tom, Auntie Kim, your Molly and Murphy xx
