The inaugural SignLight International Film Festival is set to take place in Hollywood from April 16-20, showcasing the works of Deaf filmmakers and creatives from across the globe. The event, spearheaded by actor-director-producer CJ Jones, has garnered support from industry luminaries such as Troy Kotsur, Marlee Matlin, Shoshanna Stern, Craig Mazin, Rosie O'Donnell, and Andreas Deja.
Attendees can look forward to screenings of films like 'Silent Rhythm,' 'Not Another Deaf Story,' 'Speak in a Whisper,' and 'Being Michelle.' Jones emphasized the importance of authentic representation, highlighting the need for genuine collaboration between Deaf and hearing individuals both on and off the screen.
The festival will also feature a performance by American Sign Language (ASL) hip hop artist Matt Maxey, known as Deafinitely Dope.
