Deadpool star Karan Soni has hinted at the exciting array of Marvel cameos that fans can expect in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine. Soni, who plays the role of Dopinder, the trusty taxi driver, in the MCU project, shared in an interview with Variety that audiences are in for a treat with numerous surprises when the movie hits theaters in July.
The new MCU installment is shrouded in secrecy, with Soni teasing that there are plenty of unexpected appearances to look forward to. He mentioned that 'a lot of people' traveled to London, where filming for the movie took place, hinting at a multitude of cameos beyond the confirmed characters like Pyro, Elektra, Sabretooth, and Toad.
Furthermore, Soni disclosed that Ryan Reynolds, who stars as Deadpool, had long been contemplating the idea of bringing back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Reynolds had initiated discussions with Jackman during the production of the second Deadpool film, expressing his excitement at the prospect of fans' reactions to the casting choice.
Directed by Shawn Levy and featuring a script by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine will see Reynolds reprising his role alongside Jackman as Wolverine. The movie is set to explore the multiverse, as hinted in the recent trailer for Deadpool 3, where Wade Wilson embarks on a mission to save the universe under the Time Variance Authority's guidance.
The star-studded cast includes returning actors such as Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Stefan Kapicic, with new additions like Matthew Macfadyen and Emma Corrin. Macfadyen will portray Paradox, a TVA agent, while Corrin makes her MCU debut as Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier's malevolent twin sister.
Director Shawn Levy expressed his amazement at the ease of securing various celebrity cameos for the film, attributing it to the popularity of Deadpool, Reynolds, and their collaborative synergy. Levy acknowledged the abundance of casting rumors surrounding the movie, emphasizing the challenge of discerning fact from fiction due to the sheer number of potential appearances.
Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for release on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU, promising an action-packed and cameo-filled cinematic experience for Marvel fans.
