Over 100 villagers and soldiers were tragically killed in a brutal attack on a village in central Burkina Faso by al-Qaida-linked jihadis. The assault, described as one of the deadliest this year in the conflict-ridden West African nation, took place in the Barsalogho commune, located just 80 kilometers from the capital city.
The attack occurred when fighters from the al-Qaida-linked JNIM group invaded the area, opening fire on villagers who were assisting security forces in digging trenches to fortify security outposts and villages. Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they had gained control over a militia position in Barsalogho.
