Benoit Badiashile appears set to become Chelsea's second signing of the January transfer window, after David Datro Fofana officially became a Blues player on January 1. Badiashile is expected to join the club in a deal worth £34million and sign a six-and-a-half-year contract, having arrived for his medical in London on Monday.
The Monaco defender's arrival is not said to be far away and the first month of 2023 is not limited in its opportunities to provide a debut. The 21-year-old was absent from Ligue 1 action at the weekend as Monaco emerged victorious over Brest.
Chelsea were less successful in their opening game of the year as they only managed a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest with much of the squad struggling to make an impression. It's safe to say many will feel that change is required in the Blues' squad and quickly.
