Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley) is the "elusive" Natalie who had been accused of murdering her husband.

Indra Ové (Breeders, Unforgotten, Sex Education) joins the cast as Barbara, a longstanding friend and former flame of James. Now his boss at Umbrella Pictures, Barbara's affection for James is often pushed to the limit by his reckless pursuits for the truth.

Where was Deadline filmed?

Filming for the thriller took place at locations in Budapest. Director Joe explained: "We all loved Budapest. It's a very striking city and very film friendly. I've wanted to film there ever since I visited for another project years ago.

"Many big shows are filming there now. They have spectacular locations like Memento Park where all the communist-era statues have been exiled and we constructed a major sequence around that. The crew were all local and extremely dedicated. I can't wait to work there again."

Actress Charlie added: "One of the highlights was Natalie Varga’s house, which so much fun to shoot in. Because she is in the world of art we found a pretty incredible house with a huge art collection and it was gorgeous, that’s the joy of this job – we get to peek behind the curtain of so many places and Budapest has been a joy to work in.

"I love shooting on location, being on tour it brings the whole cast and crew together even more so, no one is distracted by their daily lives at home, we are all in it together. Feels like those connections are fast made, being abroad is definitely a bonus for creating something together."

What is Deadline about?

A synopsis for the series reads: "When Natalie Varga stands accused of murdering her husband in cold blood, disgraced investigative journalist James Alden finds himself captivated by the case. When James interviews Natalie for his documentary, he finds himself falling for the very femme fatale he is supposed to be dispassionately profiling.

"His infatuation leads him on a dangerous path and the desire for 'a story' muddies his reality. With the court of public opinion ruling Natalie guilty until proven innocent, can James separate the truth from the fiction?" For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
