Dead by Daylight has tens of thousands of fans watching an hours-long livestream of an empty cabin in the woods and people are going insane.
Teased as the reveal for the game’s latest chapter – which also marks the 10th anniversary – Behaviour Interactive urged everyone to tune in at exactly 9 PM ET on Friday night to witness their big reveal which, so far, has yet to appear. Naturally, fans are spiraling.
UPDATE: After 13 hours of streaming, Jason was revealed to be the newest Killer joining Dead by Daylight.
What has happened in the teaser stream so far?
After about twelve hours, pretty much nothing has happened in Dead by Daylight’s latest teaser video. The stream began on a seemingly empty cabin in a pine wood in the daytime. The only notable change over twelve hours later has been the day noticeably shift into night as a fog rolls in, though a few “events” have taken place which seem to indicate this cabin may be situated in the Entity’s realm.
The following events have taken place in the background or off-camera in the Dead by Daylight stream: a gunshot, a man on a bicycle riding by, dogs barking, the sounds of people partying with distant music, someone far away walking and then running through the woods, the same person returning to hack at something on the ground, a campfire lighting up, a crying girl passing with a flashlight, an (actually scary) appearance of the Unknown, and some major screen “glitches” that distort audio and visual.
The visual glitches have revealed what seems to be the same cabin in the Entity’s realm, with a hook outside, which might hint that this cabin is part of a future in-game map. Extra media to accompany the stream are cryptic images and short videos (the first of which is exactly 13 seconds long) posted by Dead by Daylight‘s social media, which mostly show a person running through the woods and the inside of the now famous cabin.
A community loses their minds
This cabin will be one of those "traumatize your fandom with one image" things in a few years

Within a few hours, the collective Dead by Daylight community started to go insane. Users are split on which character or IP this stream could be teasing, though the most popular suggestions are Friday the 13th, Slenderman, or IT. With over twelve hours of branches snapping and crows cawing, other theories have joined the mainstream conversation, like the ever popular Wendigo or even Bigfoot.
While the stream has been mostly dry with short bursts of activity, at least the DBD community has been hilarious. Here are some highlights from social media as fans realized the teaser stream was going to stretch from minutes into hours.

While some fans are mostly memeing on the experience, others have taken to watching every pixel of the screen with some serious commitment. The dedication of streamers to hype up their audiences for over twelves hours of cabin watching is admirable, especially since there’s still no end in sight.
