DCU's college community will this evening pay their respects to former student and GAA star Red Og Murphy who died suddenly last week.
A vigil will take place at the St. Patrick's Campus this evening at 7pm.
A gifted footballer, Red Og played for DCU in addition to his involvement with Sligo and Curry GAA.
DCU's Student Union said: “DCUSU is deeply saddened over the loss of DCU Student Red Og Murphy, on Friday 1 April.
"The thoughts and prayers of the student body go out to his family, friends, teammates and classmates.
“We will be holding a vigil with a balloon demonstration on the lawn on St. Pats campus to pay respects to Red Og, all students are welcome.
“We will also be arranging transport to and from the funeral once details are released. If you are interested in travelling to the funeral, please fill out this form.
"We understand this is a very distressing and upsetting time for many students.”
DCU also informed students that they can avail of free counselling as the student body come to terms with the crushing loss.
They can also text HELLO to 50808 at any time to speak with a trained volunteer.
Just yesterday, Kerry senior football captain David Clifford paid tribute to Red Og during his victory speech after the Kingdom defeated Mayo in the Allianz League final at Croke Park.
Clifford said: "I just want to send regards from everyone in Kerry GAA to the family of Red Og Murphy from Sligo.
"We were all lucky enough to see Red Og play in the Sigerson (Cup) this year and we all saw what he could do, so sending our best wishes to the family from everyone in Kerry GAA."
