NEW DELHI: The national capital saw two degrees rise in the minimum temperature on Thursday, while the maximum temperature dropped owning to north-westerly winds. However, the weather department predicted a rise in day temperature soon.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is likely to rise by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius after March 12, due to absence of western disturbance and radiation heat.
On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius, the season’s average, against 31.1 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The minimum temperature was 16.8 degrees Celsius, also the season’s average, against 14.2 degrees on Wednesday. According to IMD, on Friday the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 30 and 14 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the air quality of the city improved within moderate level. On Thursday, the Air Quality Index (AQI), on a scale of 0 to 500, was recorded at 150 against 162 a day earlier. “AQI today indicated ‘moderate’ air quality. It is likely to be ‘moderate’ or ‘lower end of poor’ for the next two days,” said a statement from SAFAR on Thursday.
