This week we are taking on the Lidl "inflation buster" shopping menu to see if we can live off their list for seven days.
The "inflation buster" shopping list claims to "feed a family of four for just under €80".
Every day for seven days we are trying out the Lidl menu and reporting back on whether or not the "inflation buster" shop really can feed a family for a week.

We have reached Day 3 and while the food has been pretty tasty, we have now run out of a few essentials.
You can read the full shopping list here.
We had hoped to reduce our weekly food bill from €150 to €80, however we'll now need to do a little top-up shop for a few key items.
Here is today's menu:
Breakfast: Breakfast burrito
Lunch: Ham and cheese toasted sandwich
Dinner: Meatballs
For breakfast the boys made a delicious burrito with sausages, rashes, eggs wrapped in a tortilla (the vegetarian of the house stuck to porridge and apples.)
The tasty breakfast kept us full for hours, so lunch was a simple ham and cheese toasted sandwich (salad sandwich for the non-meat eater.)
Everyone was starving by dinner so we used the pork mince and beef mince to make meatballs.
The meatballs were served with a simple sauce made up of garlic, peppers, onion, and tinned tomatoes. This was served with spaghetti and garlic bread.
While it was a really tasty dinner, we are now out of a few items on the shopping list including bread, milk, cheese, salad, nut bars, yogurts, some fruits, and ham.
So a trip to the shops might be required. We will keep you updated tomorrow!
