In this week's show we shine the spotlight on France’s "banlieues": the low-income neighbourhoods that are on the periphery of the country’s largest cities. On September 17th and 18th, the first ever “banlieue economic forum” took place in Paris – providing an opportunity for the businesses, associations and politicians of these suburbs to brainstorm on the best ways to stimulate local economic growth.
Charles Pellegrin is joined on set by two entrepreneurs who share their insights on the economies of French suburbs and break some of the stereotypes surrounding them.
Our guests:
Hakim El-Karoui, President of "Club 21ème siècle", an association that works towards diversity and inclusion in the workplace and beyond, and the founder of Volentia, a business and government consultancy.
Tayeba Chaudhary, Co-founder of Fullsoon, a Parisian start-up that helps restaurants optimise their stock and reduce food waste ... and a native of Deuil-la-Barre in the Val d'Oise department in Northern Paris.
