Former Bournemouth head of recruitment David Webb has looked to swerve talk of stepping into the sporting director role at Celtic.
The experienced transfer guru is best known for his work at the Cherries but has also held similar transfer-related roles at Tottenham, Ostersund and Huddersfield Town. However, he has been out of work since leaving York City where he was manager in February. Ange Postecoglou has been praised for his know-how in the transfer market with a host of hits since stepping into the hotseat at Celtic Park, while Mark Lawwell has been heavily involved since arriving at the Scottish Premiership champions-elect as head of recruitment last year.
However, talkSPORT host Jim White floated Webb with a top job at Celtic Park with his name also being touted among the likes of Lazio and Hammarby. White asked: “Have you held talks with Celtic?” And Webb left the door open, stating: “No, not yet."
Host White continued to press: “I know your name has been linked with Celtic as a potential new sporting director, you’re aware of that.” Webb smirked but was playing his cards close to his chest: “No, no, no.”
White continued: “You’ll fold under questioning.” And the conversation ended with Webb replying: “No honestly, I’m not aware of it at all.”
