The Boston Celtics have generally been on good terms with the NHL’s New England Patriots, MLB’s Boston Red Sox and NHL’s Boston Bruins when it comes to solidarity among northeastern sports franchises. So news that Red Sox legend (and fellow native of the Dominican Republic) David Ortiz helped recruit star Celtics big man Al Horford to Boston is not that outrageous of a story.
But the details about how it happened are more than worth a listen, especially if you can hear them from the man that did the recruiting himself. Big Papi did exactly that in a recent interview on the Heavy “Celtics Collective” podcast.
