West Ham United boss David Moyes admits that he was surprised to see Jesse Lingard snub a return to the London Stadium this summer to join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.
The former Manchester United midfielder became a free agent earlier this summer after departing Old Trafford and despite strong interest and an offer from the Hammers to re-sign their first half of 2021 loan star, Lingard snubbed interest from Moyes to sign for newly-promoted Nottingham Forest in what is understood to be a lucrative contract.
It is believed that Lingard is on a basic salary of £115,000 a week that also includes bonuses, with the midfielder joining Steve Cooper’s side, who has not played in the top-flight for 23 years.
