David Moyes responds to VAR admitting huge error that cost West Ham a draw against Chelsea

West Ham boss David Moyes says he “admires” the Premier League for admitting their error in chalking off Maxwel Cornet’s late goal against Chelsea.

The September clash would have finished 2-2 but for a controversial VAR decision to disallow the late leveller, and is one of six calls accepted as errors by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) according to a report in The Sun.

Moyes told reporters on Friday: “We move on because we can't do anything about it or change it, but I admire them coming out and admitting they got it wrong.

“Small margins are important, but overall we have got over it and moved on.”

West Ham travel to league leaders Arsenal on Boxing Day and Moyes praised his former player, Mikel Arteta, for how he has managed the Gunners.

He added: “I think the best time to face Arsenal was about three years ago, as since Mikel has come in he's done a brilliant job!

“They've gone against the grain a bit and they've built a very good team.

“As a manager, to get players into management and see them do well is a great thrill. Mikel is always someone who had his own mind, had a really good career, worked under Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola, who is arguably the best manager of this period, so he'll have picked up advice from them.

“He's a very smart boy and has had that little bit of time to get through that difficult period.”
