West Ham United boss David Moyes has detailed the reasons why the club spent £17.5million to sign winger Maxwel Cornet from Burnley a week ago.
Last Friday, the Hammers completed the signing of the Ivory Coast international from the Clarets off the back of a debut Premier League campaign that saw the versatile attack-minded playmaker score nine goals in 26 league appearances, despite being unable to keep the side, now managed by Vincent Kompany, in England’s top-flight.
Cornet missed the chance to make his debut for the Hammers in last Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City after being signed too late to be in contention to feature, but will hope for a debut on Sunday against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
