David Moyes agrees with Roy Keane point following West Ham's FA Cup defeat to Man United

West Ham United manager David Moyes has agreed with Roy Keane's comments regarding the team's defending against Manchester United.

The Hammers were beating United 1-0 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the FA Cup Fifth Round clash between the two sides at Old Trafford on Wednesday night but three late goals from United ruined West Ham's chances of progressing to the quarter-finals of the cup competition.

Ex-United captain Keane launched a scathing attack on the manner in which the away side surrendered their lead against Erik ten Hag's men.

“Defensively West Ham were shocking, absolutely useless, and gave away three goals. I have seen it over the years, but it’s laughable," Keane said on ITV.

And Moyes, who spent just under a season at Old Trafford following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, said the pundit was correct in his conclusion of the West Ham defence, although he did add that it had been a strong point recently.

"Roy was correct as far as the defence went, we were poor in the later part of the game," Moyes said in his pre-match press conference. "In recent weeks, we just got a clean sheet against Nottingham Forest and we've defended pretty well for most parts of the season, it's probably one of our strongest areas, even though we agree it has to be better. I totally agree in the last five or ten minutes, it was not that good.

He added: "I used to use the word flakey here at West Ham and I've got rid of it to be honest because we’ve not been that in the last couple of years but we certainly were for the last 15 minutes at Old Trafford. We are disappointed in those last 15 minutes of the game.

"From my point of view, for most of the game we put on a good show but it's no point being that, no point in coming and turning up and only doing it for a period and not fulfilling right until the end because that’s probably where my anger came from because that’s not the way my teams play and I said that after the game."
