Livingston manager Davie Martindale has told clubs they will need to increase their bids if they want to sign Joel Nouble.
Martindale has had offers put to him from teams in England and abroad through third parties.
The Lions boss has previously said he would be looking for at least £1 million for the bustling forward and insists the numbers being discussed so far would not tempt him to sell the 27-year-old.
Martindale, whose team host Ayr United in the Viaplay Cup on Saturday, said: “It’s not official offers although I’ve had from third parties, ‘would you accept this?
“There is interest but the sums involved are not floating my boat, let’s put it that way. There are a couple of English clubs and foreign clubs.
“How it’s worked with me of late, you don’t get a call from a club, it’s an intermediate asking, ‘would you?’
“And if that answer is yes then the club makes contact with you.
“I don’t really keep Joel informed, because it could be noise. The amount of phone calls I’ve had for Joel is incredible but the amount of direct interest from a potential purchasing club is very low.
“If I was to sit him down I would be playing with his head and I’ve been in this game long enough, I know how it works. You treat it with a pinch of salt.”
Martindale, meanwhile, is excited about unleashing Samson Lawel once the Nigerian gets his fitness level up to the required level.
The 19-year-old joined on a three-year deal from Pro Success FC last Friday.
Martindale said: “We’ve still got a bit of work to do in terms of his fitness. I’m trying to get as many yards into his legs as possible.
“He’ll be one that I think will be a really, really good player for us this season and it’s about adapting him and dipping him and getting him acclimatised to Scottish football as quickly as possible.
“I don’t want to throw him into big games and he’s out of his depth in terms of the physicality and intensity and you can potentially set the kid back six weeks.”
