David Jeffrey offers Sky Sports viewers hilarious explainer for player's vocabulary

David Jeffrey was forced to offer an explainer to Sky Sports viewers watching Sunday's coverage of the BetMcLean League Cup final.

The showpiece decider featured Cliftonville and holders Coleraine who were battling it out for glory at Windsor Park.

As part of Sky Sports' coverage, they did quick Q&As with Reds midfielder Rory Hale and Coleraine defender Aaron Traynor.

During Hale's segment, he referred to Cliftonville "not being minted" and described his manager Paddy McLaughlin as being "a header".

And with a global audience watching on via their television screens, Ballymena United boss Jeffrey thought he should clarify Hale's vocabulary.

Jeffrey - who was acting as a pitchside pundit - joked: "Folks who are at home and watching, I will do a little bit of explaining.

"This is football at its purest. At its best.

"And when Rory said, 'we are not minted', he's alluding to the fact that Cliftonville might not have a lot of money.

"When he said his manager is "a header", he means that he has got an outgoing personality."

The League Cup decider is the first time a major Irish League final had been held on a Sunday, with over 10,000 fans at Windsor to make it the biggest League Cup crowd on record.

The game was also beamed across the water with live coverage being provided by Sky Sports.
