David Gray reveals uncertainty over Scott Allan's future at Hibs

David Gray reveals uncertainty over Scott Allan's future at Hibs

DAVID GRAY has admitted that he does not know if Scott Allan will be offered a contract extension - with the caretaker boss insisting that the club's next permanent manager will make a decision over the playmaker's future.

Allan, 30, has struggled for game time since being diagnosed with a heart problem two years ago and has started just six matches this season.

His last appearance for the Leith club came in a 2-1 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Cup back in March and Gray says that it is possible that the midfielder - who is out of contract this summer and missed the weekend's 1-1 draw with Aberdeen - has kicked his last ball for the Easter Road outfit.

"Scott's struggling with an injury at the moment," said Gray. "He's been here a while, he's someone I've known for a long, long time. He's a really good lad who loves his football and he's obviously a very good footballer.

"He's had some challenges with his health and things like that, which is never easy. He'd have liked to have played more football than he has, but that's football sometimes - it's all about opinions. At the moment he's not available for selection."

"[Allan's future] will be a question for the next manager. I can't answer that one because I don't know who is going to be in charge and what the plan is for everyone moving forward."
