David de Gea reacts to Harry Maguire decision for Manchester United win vs Everton

David de Gea has praised the depth of Manchester United's squad after the Reds' comfortable victory against Everton.

Erik ten Hag made the decision to start Harry Maguire against Everton, which meant Raphael Varane was rested. The start was just Maguire's sixth in the Premier League this season and he played his part in helping to record a clean sheet.

Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also replaced Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot in the starting side to face Everton at Old Trafford, which meant there were a total of three changes from the backline that started against Brentford.

However, the changes did not seem to matter, as United defeated Everton 2-0 with a dominant and confident performance.

De Gea was hardly troubled throughout the contest and the only criticism of the display was the wastefulness from Ten Hag's side.

After the game, De Gea was asked whether he was especially happy with the clean sheet considering the defensive changes that were made and he told MUTV: "Of course, it doesn't matter who is playing in the line-up, everyone is ready to play.

"Even people from the bench today, they make a big impact again, so we have a really good squad. People are coming back from injuries and, to be honest, it's great to see everyone in the same direction and fighting for the club."

"Everyone is going to be needed at some point because we have many, many games and it's difficult to recover from that, so everyone is ready and training so well and that makes the difference."
