David de Gea admits Manchester United fans played key role in beating West Ham

David de Gea has admitted the fans inside Old Trafford provided the 'energy' for Manchester United to beat West Ham.

United beat West Ham 1-0 on Saturday afternoon thanks to Marcus Rashford's goal deep into stoppage time.

The game looked almost certain to end 0-0 until Rashford's strike. The contest was tight between two sides that share the ambition of securing Champions League football this season, but the crowd within Old Trafford spurred United on to find a late goal.

The noise level in Old Trafford refused to dissipate and that was key in United being able to find a late goal, according to De Gea.

"First of all, to keep a clean sheet was massive for us," De Gea told MUTV after the game.

"We didn't concede many chances today. We controlled the game very well but they defended very well as well. We push and push and at the end, we scored an amazing goal. I had a feeling that the game was there for us [to win].

"It was an amazing feeling. Thanks to the fans because they were great for the whole game and they helped us win. They kept pushing the team, they kept on shouting and that gave us a bit more energy at the end of the game because we were tired.

"But what can I say? It was an amazing feeling to score the goal and the fans shouting, it was unbelievable."
