David Beckham has sent a short and simple message to England after Jordan Pickford's excellent performance between the posts last night.
Pickford started his fourth consecutive game in Qatar as the Three Lions comfortably beat Senegal 3-0. Jordan Henderson opened the scoring for Gareth Southgate's side on 38 minutes, before goals either side of the break from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka sealed a place in the quarter-finals and a date with France on Sunday.
What ended with a commanding win, however, could have been very different had it not been for Pickford. Aliou Cisse's side started the brighter of the two sides at the Al Bayt Stadium, with Boulaye Dia thumping an early shot towards goal before Ismaïla Sarr scooped over from close range.

It was the earlier chance that forced Pickford into action as the Everton stopper got a strong arm to Dia's shot to prevent an early shock. And former Manchester United midfielder Beckham posted a short and simple message on his Instagram, stating that the team are 'in safe hands' alongside a picture of England's No.1.
Pickford has again cemented his position as the key keeper in Gareth Southgate's plans, pulling off a smart save when called upon. And while the 28-year-old had little to do for the remainder of the 90 minutes - the West African side failed to register another shot on target - his contribution early doors no doubt set the wheels in motion for an encouraging win.
The Toffees man has often come in for unfair criticism from some corners of the England fanbase, with noise for Aaron Ramsdale or Nick Pope to start ahead of him. Rather than a surprising change of fortunes, Pickford's form for England is merely a continuation of his domestic performances where has excelled consistently for Frank Lampard's side since his arrival to Goodison Park in January.
