David Beckham makes subtle tribute to son Brooklyn despite tattoo cover-up

David Beckham has shared a subtle tribute to his son Brooklyn, shortly after his son appears to have covered up a tattoo of his father’s name in the ongoing family feud.

Brooklyn Beckham made an explosive statement last month, in a series of posts in which he said he had no intention of reconciling with his family.

But on Friday, David shared a tribute to his son on Instagram as he sorted through his massive football boot collection.

He shared images of all the boots he wore during his long career, including many which bore 26-year-old Brooklyn’s name.

The names of his younger children, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, were also embroidered on many of the boots, in what Beckham dubbed his ‘archive’.

Beckham’s football career began in 1992 with Manchester United, where he won a plethora of honours before moving to Real Madrid in 2003. He also played for LA Galaxy between 2007 and 2012.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Brooklyn had covered up a tattoo tribute to his father.

The tattoo previously appeared to show the word “Dad” on an anchor, but new pictures show the word has been covered with three nondescript shapes.

A source told The Sun: “Brooklyn’s had laser treatment on the writing. He wanted it gone. There is so much hurt and pain on his side, it would not be genuine to keep such a tribute on his body.”

Brooklyn has also reportedly had a tattoo on his chest dedicated to mum Victoria covered up, and tattoos on his fingers dedicated to his sibling seem to have been inked over - numerous tattoos in honour of his wife Nicola, 31, can still be seen.

In Brooklyn’s bombshell statement on January 19, he said he was “standing up” for himself for the first time in his life.

He said: "For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.

"The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.

“Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade.”

He also claimed that he was “humiliated” during the wedding by Victoria, who allegedly danced inappropriately on her son while taking Nicola’s place during the traditional first dance.

Amid the family drama, it has also been reported that Brooklyn and Nicola are planning on adopting their first child together.

A source close to the couple said: “This is a subject Nicola and Brooklyn firmly align on: they both want a brood of children, and for at least one to be adopted.

“They both know they come from a place of unimagined privilege and therefore strongly want to give back; offer a disadvantaged baby or child the best possible life.”
