Dave Ramsey says 70% effort on household finances won't cut it

When you tackle tough personal financial problems, a half-hearted approach just isn’t going to get the job done.

To safeguard your financial future and keep debt and other money problems at bay, you need to be in full acceleration mode.

DON’T MISS: Dave Ramsey advises against a common financial pitfall.

That’s the takeaway from Dave Ramsey on his Sept. 5 broadcast.

“There’s a lot of things in your life that you’re doing at 70%,” he told his nationwide audience. “And I want you to turn it up to 100%."

Ramsey says it’s common to see 70% of people who want to get out of debt or 70% of people who want to buy a house fail to get the job done properly.

“In doing so, you’re getting mediocre results in every area of your life because you’re playing at 7 speed and not 10 speed,” the prominent financial adviser says.

Ramsey wants to light a fire under consumers who aren’t going full bore into addressing their financial needs, goals and obligations.

“I want you to act like you’re playing in the Super Bowl, man,” he added. “I want you to go for it because I know you’ve got that fire inside of you.”

Ramsey takes straight-shooter approach to finance

Ramsey has long been known for his straight-shooter approach to managing money, making clear that it takes effort and sacrifice and living differently than your friends and neighbors do.

People must recognize, according to his methods, that becoming fiscally healthy not only comes at a high price, it involves taking no shortcuts.

On the other hand, he says, following through on a 100% approach to fiscal responsibility can turn one’s financial fortunes around.

“You get to decide if today is the day you change your life,” Ramsey told his 952,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter) the same day.

“You work too hard to get to the end of your life and have nothing to show for it. Nobody accidentally wins the championship. It’s up to you to change your family’s future.”
