Davante Adams had plenty to say after the Raiders’ Week 2 loss to the Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
But the team’s top receiver couldn’t seem to find answers as to why his team couldn’t stop putting itself in “tough-to- overcome positions.” Adams also spoke candidly about the Raiders’ lack of consistency.
“I don’t got time to wait around. … It’s not a personal thing. I mean it is a personal thing, but it ain’t just about me,” Adams told reporters. “It’s not my mentality to sit here and try to take all season to figure it out and use these early games like this to establish our identity. We’re not doing the things the right way to establish a winning culture early in the season, so we gotta do something to turn that around.”

It’s a fair statement from Adams, who played well in the 23-18 loss, catching 13 of 20 targets for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He’s caught 125 passes for 1,838 yards and 17 touchdowns in just 20 games with the Raiders. It’s apparent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo wants to feed the ball to him, and the 20 targets for Adams on Sunday is proof of that.
But turnovers were a killer in Week 3, and Garoppolo tossed three interceptions, which played a part in the Raiders’ finding themselves in a 23-7 hole heading into the fourth quarter Sunday night.
