Daughter of Robbie Coltrane shares touching tribute to her late father

Robbie Coltrane's daughter has shared a touching tribute to her dad following his death. Alice McMillan posted a heartwarming image of the two on her Instagram with a black heart emoji.

The image shows her hugging the Scots actor, who is best known for his role as Hagrid in Harry Potter. Coltrane passed away at the age of 72 on Friday.

He played a variety of roles during his long career including Valentin Zukovsky in the James Bond films GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough and as the much-loved gamekeeper in Harry Potter. Towards the end of his life, the Scot suffered from osteoarthritis which limited his mobility.

Tributes have poured in for the actor who has been described as a national treasure.

BAFTA award-winning actress Miriam Margolyes, who played alongside the iconic actor in her role as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films, said: "He was a very fine actor and a delightful man. Huge in stature, in personality, in heart. He was exceptional and I'm really sad. I didn't know he was ill. He acted with passion, he was really wonderful.

"I think that's what makes somebody great, that they have light and dark in them, and he really did, and he could summon it when he needed to. But he had a heart of gold. He was kind, he was sweet, he was affectionate.

"So all the good things about him were light and the bad things he harnessed for his work."

Daniel Radcliffe has remembered his Harry Potter co-star Robbie Coltrane as "one of the funniest people" and "an incredible actor".

He said: "Robbie was one of the funniest people I've met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I've especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban, when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid's hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up.

""I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he's passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man."

Harry Potter author JK Rowling also paid tribute to the late Coltrane in a heartfelt statement accompanied with a touching image of the pair together. Rowling described the late actor as "a complete one off" as she saluted his performance as gamekeeper Hagrid in the films.

"I'll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again," she said in a tribute on Twitter.
