Daughter Of Abusive Mummy Blogger Ruby Franke Slams Movie Based On Her Family’s Tradgedy

Shari Franke — the daughter of convicted child abuser Ruby Franke — has spoken out against a movie based on the tragic events that happened to her family.

In case you missed it, former mummy blogger Ruby Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse in August 2023.

In December, Franke pled guilty to four counts of second-degree felony child abuse. She is now in prison with four consecutive sentences of one to 15 years.

Just over a year after Ruby’s arrest, the family’s trauma was made into a movie called Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story starring Emilie Ullerup as Ruby Franke and Heather Locklear as Hidelbrandt.

When Shari Franke, the eldest daughter of Ruby’s six children, came across the trailer for the upcoming film, she claimed it was incredibly distressing.

“I saw the trailer suddenly in class and had an anxiety attack,” Shari wrote on Instagram.

“None of us were contacted about the movie. None of the proceeds are going to the kids.

“This movie is trash, and only hurts my siblings more. Please do not support this movie.”

Since learning about the upcoming film, Shari has made daily notes to her 612K Instagram followers speaking out against the film and asking her following not to engage with the film or it’s promotions.

“Here’s my daily reminder about the Lifetime movie,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“Please do not support this movie. It is traumatic for me to see this happen. Please help me, and thank you for supporting me. To help, just do not watch the trailer or any promotions.”

Prior to Franke’s conviction, she ran a now-deleted YouTube account called “8 Passengers” in which she documented the family’s daily lives. The account amassed more than 2.3 million followers with their content often focusing on the Franke’s strict parenting style and home-schooling.

Both Franke and Hildebradnt were arrested after Franke’s “emaciated” son escaped from HIldebrandt’s home to a neighbour to ask for food and water. According to court documents, he had duct tape around his wrists and ankles. The neighbour called the police, who later found Franke’s malnourished 10-year-old daughter at Hildebrandt’s home.

Further investigation revealed significant abuse carried out by both Hildebrandt and Franke in connection with their counselling service called ConneXions, which claims to offer healing services that “psychotherapy cannot offer”.

Hildebrandt and Franke are currently serving up to 60 years behind bars for their crimes.
