Date set for when whole Tube network will have phone signal – here’s when

  • Transport for London (TfL) is aiming to introduce mobile coverage at every Underground station by the end of 2026, with better connection across the entire Tube network expected by 2027.
  • Currently, around 60 per cent of underground stations on the network are equipped with 4G and 5G signal, allowing passengers to stay connected during their journeys.
  • Recent expansions include tunnelled sections on the Bakerloo, Metropolitan, Circle, and District lines, as well as busy stations such as Vauxhall, Temple, Nine Elms, and Gloucester Road.
  • The majority of the Northern, Bakerloo, and Metropolitan lines are projected to have tunnel coverage by the end of summer this year, with major stations like King's Cross St Pancras, Victoria, and Paddington receiving phased rollouts.
  • The rollout, a collaboration between TfL, Boldyn Network, and major mobile operators (Three, EE, Vodafone, Virgin Media O2), will also host the new Emergency Services Network, providing critical connectivity for first responders.
