Darwin Nunez's former coach makes '100%' prediction Liverpool fans will love

Former UD Almeria assistant head coach has backed soon-to-be Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez to "100%" adapt to life in the Premier League.

David Badia was the 22-year-old's assistant head coach during his time in the Spanish second division, where he spent one season before sealing a switch to Portuguese giants Benfica.

Speaking to Sky Sports just hours after the Liverpool deal had been made public by Benfica, Badia backed one of his former prodigies to hit the ground running upon completing a switch to Merseyside.

"His physical conditions was completely amazing," he said. "He is a very tall player at the same he has amazing pace and can also keep his speed in the long distance, not just the first three-four metres, that was very impressive for me."

He added: "Some of the players they have one or two chances and can score one goal, they are there by luck but he is very clever and he can find the right position in the right moment to have the chance to score. 100%, if there’s any league in the world that he can adapt, he can be much better than he is today, it is the Premier League."

Nunez's time in Spain marked the beginning of his career in Europe, following spells at La Luz, San Miguel de Artigas and Club Atlético Peñarol in his native Uruguay.

Following two years in Penarol's senior side, Nunez sealed a switched to Spain where he would help Almeria to a fourth-place finish, though he was unable to end the club's five-year exile from La Liga.

Since moving to Benfica, the striker has gone from strength to strength as he built on from the 13 goals he managed in his maiden season by firing a 34 in all competitions this time around.

Liverpool supporters have already had a few glimpses of what their new forward could potentially bring to Jurgen Klopp's side, after he scored home and away against the Reds in the clubs' Champions League quarter-final meetings.
