Darwin Nunez has been given a rather unrecognisable FIFA 23 face following the launch of the game last month.
The Uruguayan made the £85million switch to Liverpool in the summer, having scored 34 goals for Benfica in all competitions last season. He became the Reds' record arrival, pipping Virgil van Djik's fee of £75m following the defender's move from Celtic back in January 2018.
Naturally, his move to the Reds meant Nunez would be a Liverpool player in the new FIFA alongside fellow signings Fabio Carvalho, Arthur and Calvin Ramsay. The entire Liverpool squad took part in a photoshoot for the player faces, with FIFA and the Reds forming a new partnership ahead of the release of the recent edition.
But FIFA have appear to have got Nunez's in-game face slightly wrong, with it looking nothing like the striker. Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and even Harvey Elliot all look incredibly accurate, but Nunez hasn't had the greatest luck with FIFA's picture.
One fan said: "This is supposed to be Darwin in FIFA 23 - seriously EA? They did him very dirty." Another added: "I’m actually crying lmao. They done my boy dirty."
FIFA could add a new face scan of Nunez in a new update in the future, with Carvalho and Kostas Tsimikas also not looking like their usual selves. Nunez is an 82-rated card on FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, with 89 pace, 82 shooting and 96 physical.
Nunez made a mixed start to life at the Reds, scoring as a substitute in their 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield, before repeating the same feat against Fulham on the opening day of the season. However, Nunez was shown a straight red card on his first start for the club in a 1-1 draw with Palace, after the forward headbutted Joachim Anderson.
Having returned to the fold to face Everton, Nunez was thrown straight back into the XI but he struggled throughout before being taken off late into the game. Nunez subsequently was named as a substitute against Napoli, Ajax and Brighton.
However, Nunez was recalled to the XI for their Champions League clash with Rangers and he impressed as they won 2-0. This led to Klopp naming an unchanged side for the trip to Arsenal, as Nunez clocked up his second goal for the club with a tidy finish.
"I think he said himself he feels the pressure, needs to calm himself down," Klopp told a press conference on Friday. You can see the movements are exceptional and if you would see him finishing in training you would think, 'Oof, my god'."
