Darwin Nunez absent, Mohamed Salah on his bike and three more things spotted in Liverpool training

Liverpool may have romped to a commanding 5-0 win over RB Leipzig on Thursday but their pre-season preparations continued on Friday as they arrived in Austria.

After the internet took pleasure in seeing a new signing fail to make an impact in an hour of football in new surroundings, Darwin Nunez made his mark with a bang after firing four against the Bundesliga outfit.

Jurgen Klopp's side are now back in Austria ahead of their meeting with Red Bull Salzburg next Wednesday before they lock horns with Manchester City at the King Power Stadium in the Community Shield.

Here are the five things spotted from Friday's training session.

Darwin Nunez absent

Both goalscorers from the 5-0 win were missing from the training pictures posted by the club from their first training session. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring against Domenico Tedesco's side after just eight minutes before the summer signing entered the fray as a half-time substitute for Roberto Firmino.

The quadruple for Nunez could be the spark the Uruguayan needs after a highly publicised start to life with the Reds. There is nothing suspicious surrounding his absence as he posted on Twitter enjoying some time with the Premier League ball for the upcoming season with - what looks to be - the iconic Austrian mountains in the background.

Mohamed Salah and Virgi van Dijk's absences explained

Although their absences are glaring, it is likely that the pair were on a lighter session as they continue to ramp up their preparations. The Egyptian debunked the theories behind his absence as he posed for a picture in front of the mountains after a bike ride with Robertson, Joe Gomez, Adrian and Van Dijk.

No Context Joel Matip

As gruelling as pre-season can be, the spirits were high among the Reds. Curtis Jones features heavily in the collection of snaps provided by the club's photographers which show his performing a skid on his bike on their way to training as well as trying his hand at flying one of the media team's drones.

Fan-favourite, Matip, can be seen leaping in the air as he looks to punish Ibrahima Konate as part of their warm-up games. Jones, Kostas Tsmikas, Fabinho, Harvey Elliot and Matip all gather to flick the Frenchman's ear.

The defender's position mid-flight will definitely raise a chuckle amongst supporters and advocates for the No Context Joel Matip Twitter account.

Tyler Morton steps up preparations amid Blackburn links

On Friday, the Times reported that youngster Tyler Morton is set to join Blackburn Rovers on loan. Although he was pictured continuing his programme with Liverpool.

A number of names have departed pre-season training already this summer as Rhys Williams joined Blackpool on loan and Ben Davies departing for Rangers.

The Liverpool boss has already discussed the 19-year-old during the preparations for the upcoming season. "By the way, Tyler Morton in training, incredible! He plays as a No. 8 now," Klopp said earlier this month. "We don’t force him to play as a controlling No. 6 in a Premier League game.

"He’s training as an eight, and it’s like ‘wow, how good is that?!’ He’s still here."

The student and the teacher

Despite arriving this summer, Fabio Carvalho has already shown glimpses of why Liverpool focused their attention on him during his time with Fulham in the Championship.

He replaced Fabinho on the hour mark against Leipzig and was an immediate threat. His bursts forward saw him thread through Nunez whose effort squirmed into the bottom corner for his fourth.

In the training pictures, Spanish maestro Thiago is seen joking with the Portuguese youngster.

If Carvalho can mimic some of Thiago's best moments throughout his career then Liverpool will surely reap the rewards of the gem that they prized from Craven Cottage.
