Benfica have known for some time they had a player with serious potential on their hands in Darwin Nunez.
The 22-year-old striker is edging closer to becoming a Liverpool player after the two clubs agreed an initial fee worth €75million (£64.1m) plus a possible further €25m (£21.3m) in add-ons.
Nunez rose to prominence during his maiden campaign with the Portuguese giants in 2020/21, having arrived in the summer from Spanish side Almeria. By the turn of the year in 2021, the Uruguayan was already being linked with a move away from the Estadio da Luz.
