Darren Till responds to being told his UFC career is over by "malicious" rival

Darren Till has hit back at Marvin Vettori's claim that he's "done" at UFC level and won't return from his latest injury setback.

The Italian is not a fan of Till's and told media this week that he feels the Scouse fighter won't return to the top of UFC level from the injury that cost him a co-headline spot at The O2 arena in London back in July. The pair have gone back-and-forth in the past, but Till insists it was all light-hearted and that Vettori has reacted badly to his banter.

Till has gone 1-4 since earning a shot at the welterweight world title against Tyron Woodley in 2018 and has been forced out for years at a time with different issues. However he still has the backing of Michael Bisping who argues that he will become world champion in future.

Responding to Vettori in a tweet, Till wrote: "I’ve only ever trolled Marvin Vettori on socials for a bit of beef nothing ever malicious or anything but every chance he gets to spit pure hatred he takes it. What’s up bro? Why you hate me and Izzy so much? Good luck the weekend rooting for you as always."

The fighter later shared a blurry selfie driving shirtless with an unnamed pal with the caption "Good Night to everyone except Marvin Vettori." The Italian faces Robert Whittaker in Paris this weekend, a fight he was promoting when he was asked about No.9-ranked middleweight Till.

"I don't think I ever even called out Darren Till," Vettori told reporters at the pre-fight media day even though he admits that he had called for fights with most of the division. "He's completely irrelevant at this point, I think, in the division.

"He's literally zero, delusional also. How are we even talking about him? We only talk about him because he's helping Khamzat [Chimaev, his close friend and top welterweight contender] getting ready, but he hasn't been fighting in a long time. He's done, to be honest I don't think he's ever going to come back with any sort of decent opponent so that fight doesn't make any sense."

Till has admitted that he is struggling with his mental health after his most recent injury which cost him a fight with Hermansson. He claimed that he is feeling like Tyson Fury during his lengthy spell out of the ring, when the heavyweight champion hit a low ebb mentally while ballooning in weight and feeling suicidal.

"It’s just so frustrating at this point in my career," Till explained during an appearance on Blockasset’s BLOCKPARTY podcast . " I feel like I’m in a Tyson Fury moment. Remember when he was going through that depressed stage? And I feel like that’s where I’m at now. Obviously I’m not drinking and taking drugs – that’s not my way. But I still feel like that."
